12/12/10 - Chaps 3 - Coundon Court 3
What can be said about today - a chaotic start with Ullathorne closed for business caused the game to relocated on a tiny pich in the memorial park. The team were missing the injured Kareem and the ill Sai and Luke.
The small pitch did not enable Shabba and Alex to use there pace and often were hussled out of it due to the sheer weight of Coundon players around them. Alex nearly scored early doors but for once the radar was faulty dragging the shot wiide. Coundon also had chances hitting the post with their best effort when the striker was through on goal. Chaps began to assert themselves and Alex finished well after Shabba broke down the left and delivered an inch perfect cross which this time Alex finished well. At this stage Chaps were on top but a second goal was needed.
It did not come and Chaps gifted the equaliser to Coundon with a horrendous own goal. Shaun was under no pressure and fed the ball back to Ashley, unfortunatley Ash took his eye of it for a split second and the ball went under his foot and past his despairing grasp. The nature of the goal clearly unsettled the lads and it was a flat gtoup that saw in half time.
Half time - Chaps 1 Coundon 1
The second half saw Chaps regain the lead with a 20 yard strike from Jordan. Coundon came straight back and the impresssive right winger caused Alex to slip up and the ball found the striker made no mistake from close range.
Worse was to follow as Coundon took the lead after some Coundon pressure and the striker was found well in the box and made no mistake giving Ashley no chance.
Credit to the lads as from looking like they were going to crash to their first defeat in dissapointing fasion with barely 2 minutes to go a corner from Jack was cut out and saw him smack the rebound of the post, the ball dropping to Jordan in the 6 yard box to prod home and give the lads a deserved share of the spoils on the balance of the game.
The boys need to react better in these conditions and pass the ball better to make there skills shine through. The squad is stretched at the momement but it is giving all the players there chance to grab a place in the team. They need to put this game behind them and bounce back against Grove farm next week.

21/11/10 -Chaps 5 - Alvis Juniors 2 - Tanners Lane KO 11.00am
From 2 0 up Chaps were pegged back to to 2 each in a competitive match at Floyds fields today. With Ullathorne not open for business Chaps raced into a 2 goal lead with Alex Janes pace causing the Alvis back line problems. Alvis were back in it after a mistake from rookie keeper Jack playing in goal in place of Coventry trialist Ashley droping a testing cross at the feet of the Alvis striker to concede. Worse was to follow when the big left midfielder broke clear and took it round the exposed Jack to equalise. The shock of this spurred the team andd were rewarded with a good finish from Kareem.
Half time Chaps 3 - Alvis 2
Chaps stretched their lead with a hat trick goal for Alex and a goal for Shabba to finish of Alvis who never gave up and battled to the end.

14/11/10 Chaps 8 - Triumph Athletic 0 - Tanners Lane KO 1.00pm Coventry Cup
A place in the third round of the cup awaits the lads after an emphatic 8-0 win over a spirited Triumph team this afternoon. After a slow start on a small ish pitch Chaps took the lead with a lob into the top corner from the captain Shaun after Alex had beaten his man well to feed him. A second goal was harshly ruled out for off side from George although the cross did not appear to go forward. However a second goal was coming and Alex duely obliged with a low hit stike across the keeper into the left corner of the net.
The unfortunate Conan had to go of injured but the lads did not let this disrupt the play
Shabba and Alex's pace were causing the Athletic defence plenty of problems, and a third goal came with Alex pulling the ball inside to blast into the top cornwer giving the keeper no chance. With Alex h and Luke holding firm at the back whilst Sam and Nathan giving their usual 100% commited display the Athletic forward were getting little joy although a rare lapse from a throw in save Ash have to tip over from a header.
Half time Chaps 3 triumph 0
The second half saw Chaps extend their lead with Alex adding 2 more good goals, the first struck well whilst the second saw neat footwaork to dribble round the keeper.
A couple of lapses at the back saw the big triumph striker go close on a couple of occasions but he lacked the composure in front of goal to punish the error. Ash then made an outstanding save going full elength to his right to tip a drilled shot wide of his left hand post.
Sam Dixon was having an inspired game at both right back and holding midfielder with his battling qualities breaking up Triumph's attacks and getting Chaps onto the front foot. Sai also was getting stuck in and driving forwad well to support the forwads
Chaps stepped up the play in the final 15 with Jack Rooney bossing the midfield whilst Shaun and George were geetting their foot on the ball to set attackes up. Sean Mchugh was pushed up front and ran himself into the ground as usual.
The gloss was put on the result with 3 late goals, the first was a stunning 20 yard volley into the top corner from Shaun. this was followed up by a Strong header from Jack Rooney from a Float George corner and the second from Jack was a good strike. in between a goal was ruled out from Sean Mchugh for offside that his display on the day would have merited.
Jack had one last chance to bag a hat trick but it was not to be. Well played lads, a strong performance and clean sheet today against a team who never gave in and battled to the end.

7/11/10 Chaps 4 - St Nicks 2 - Bishop Ullathorne School KO 11.00am League
Chaps sent 2 times Champions St Nicks to their heaviest league defeat in 3 years of playing in the John Bryan League. Starting down the slope, Chaps took the game by the scruff of the neck from the off and were on top across the park. The defence welcomed back Alex harbour who was suffering after a week off school ill, but he put in an assured display, well supported by Luke, Sai and Conan.
St Nicks were pegged back whilst George was pulling the strings, setting Shaun up first to volley over from the edge of the box and then putting him through to see chaps win a corner. Shaun also went close when firing wide from just outside the box. The deadlock was broken 5 mins before half time, from a George corner which was floated into the the near post and was knocked in by the St Nicks defence.
Chaps were not finished and St Nicks frailities from corner kicks was again exposed with George's pin point corner finding Luke who leapt like a salmon to send it in past the stranded keeper.
Half time Chaps 2 - St Nicks 0
The second half commenced and as expected St Nicks were fast out of the blocks and pulled a goal back inside the first 5 minutes. Sai for the first time in the match, getting beaten and the winger pulled it across the goal for the midfield to tap in.
Credit to the lads as they responded almost straight away with Shabba getting fouled presenting Jack with a chance to score from 25 yards with a low struck free kick that was drilled into the bottom corner.
Again St Nicks hit back with a fine individual goal as the centre mid took on 3 static chaps players to end up clean through to score well giving Ash no chance.
Again Chaps hit back with Karrem shrugging off 2 St Nicks defenders before firing home a looping shot that crashed off the bar and fell in the path of Shabba who finished well to restore the 2 goal advantage.
To St Nicks credit they finished the game strongly creating some half chances but Chaps defence held firm and the team were well worth the victory. Well done lads.Over 1 year unbeaten at home now (last defeated 27/9/09).

31/10/10 Spinx 0 - Chaps 2 - Away Sphinx Drive 11.00pm KO League
Chaps ran out deserved winners in a competitive match against Spinx today. Boasting a team almost full of the Coventry Schools FA u14 team the Sphinx team started off brightly, passing the ball well and trying to use their pace up front. However Chaps grew into the first half and began to get on top. Alex Jane's pace causing problems down the left and George going close with a blocked chance in the box. Sphinx responded by bringing on one chaps old boy in Jake for another in Conal - however they were well marshalled by the outstanding Conan. With Luke in fine form at the back Sphinx were getting no joy with Nathan and Sai also on top.
Half time Sphinx 0- Chaps 0
Kareem was introduced in the second half and this paid dividends almost straight away with Sphinx adjusting their backline to cope with Chaps pace and power. The scoring first goal came from a set piece. Luke again on hand to score from a chaps corner. Kareem should have double the lead when put clean through but the ball bobbled and he pulled the chance wide. Alex Jane also had 2 good chances to add to the lead but for once his scoring touch deserted him. Chaps then had a huge let off when Luke missed his first header of the match and the striker burst through but Ash came quickly off his line to smoother the shot when a goal looked certain.
From that scare, Chaps pushed on in search of a second and dominated the final 15 minutes with Sphinx left to playing the long ball up. jack and Luke were winning everything down the centre and the result was put beyond doubt when Jack took on his man on the left of the box to get to the bye line and cross in for Alex to header over the line from close range.

29/10/10 Chaps 4 - Daventry Town 3 Friendly Aston Villa Bodymoor Heath
An understrength Chaps team beat Midland Premier A league Daventry Town tonight in a friendly at Aston Villa academy 3G full size pitch.
Daventry boasting a team of giants in the midfield and pace and power up front started brightly and nearly went clean through fin the first minute - the parents thought this would be a long night but Shabba and Alex's pace were causing problems and Daventry towns centre backs were struggling to deal with Ash's monstor kicks. The first goal was scored by Shabba after good work from Alex.
The Alex added to the score with Daventry hitting back twice with there pace exposing the chaps back line missing Alex. The goal of the game was from Alex Jane who raced clear down the right to curl an unstoppable shot home of the underside of the bar.
Half time Chaps 3 - Daventry Town 2
The second half contined in the same manner. Daventry equalised but Jack restored the lead with a drilled free kick. Chaps had settled down by this satage and were working hard all over the pitch to deny their talented opponents any space and were rewarded with a well deserved victory. Well done lads - it goes to prove that with your spirit and will to win you can match any team on your day.

17/10/10 Chaps 2 - Cov Jaguar 3 Bedwoth Nursing Cup Away - Radford KO 1.30pm.
The inability to deal with Cov Jags long throw delivery was the undoing of the team today as 2 goals were scored as a direct result of the excellent delivery.
On a small pitch that aided Jag preventing Chaps space out wide Chaps were given the ideal start when Shabba was clattered by the keeper when clean through on goal. Unfortunatley Shabba had to be carried off with a nose injury but George made no mistake from the spot. Shaun soon pulled up with a back injury and with Kareem abscent the squad was stretched to its limits.
Jag were back on level terms when a lack of communication between Ash and the centre backs saw a long throw land at the Jags strikers feet and he hinished from inside the 6 yard box. With chaps struggling to get on top in midfield jag were able to keep there big players in the middle of the pitch and the tight pitch enabled them to close down quickly and prevent us getting in behind them.
Half time Chaps 1 - Jag 1
The second half saw jag up the tempo and scored a second goal with there smallest player benefiting from a set piece causing chaos to head home unmarked from close range. Worse was to follow with the striker bagging a third.
However credit to Chaps as Jack was pushed up front and Chaps ended up on the attack and were rewarded with a superb overhead kick that proved to much for the Jag keeper to hold. Unfortunatley this was in stoppage time but it is a credit to the lads that inspite of the injuries they kept plugging away and it was the Jag sidelines that were relieved to hear the final whistle as Chaps were on top.
No discrace to loose today against s strong Jag team but we must learn from it for the next time we meet them on their pitch in the league.

10/10/10 Chaps 7 - Alvis 1 Coventry Cup Bishop Ullathorne KO 11.00am
The Coventry cup took centre stage this morning and the lads expected a tough game against the red league new comers. kicking off up the slope without Ash in goal due to injury whilst Sai and Alex H iwere abscent in defence.
Alvis started off the better side creating a couple of chances, one of which rookie keeper Jack did well to get down to. Chaps then began to assert themselves and took the lead when Alex kept up his recent scoring form with a fiish across the keeper. Shabba added a second soon after taking on his man and cutting back from the edge of the box to curl a shot past the Alvis keepers outstretched hands.
The lads created more chances with both Alex and George going close.Alex got the 3rd outpacing the Alvis defence with another shot across the keeper.
Half time Chaps 3 - Alvis 0
Karrem entered the game in place of Shabba and the lads went straight on the offensive and Alex scored his hat trick. By now Alvis were struggling to keep up with the pace up front and chaps were threatening and forced a corner. George's pin point delivery found Luke in the centre of the box to finish nicely. The unfortunate Conan got another kick on the injury sustained last week so went of injured allowing Shabba the opportunity to terrorise the rightback again and with Karrem up front he benefited from a scramble in the box, curling it past a defender on the line to make it six. The seventh came from a defence splitting pass from george operating in midfield to find Alex whose pace took him clear and he was able to find Kareem to slot home his second of the game.
With seconds to go Sam was for once caught out misjudging a header allowing the right winger to race clear and finish well inside the near post past Jack who can consider himself unlucky not to keep a clean sheet an put some pressure on Ash to get his place back!!! Fair play to Alvis who battled to the end and deserved a goal for there effort.
Al the lads played well today with the defence solid, the midfield battling well and providing the balls to the front 3 to cause the damage they are capable off.
Full time Chaps 7 - Alvis 1 - MoM Sam Dixon - Here, there and every where.
3/10/10 Chaps 3 - Haunchwood 1 Bishop Ullathorne KO 11.00am
Another match where the team went a goal behind and had to fight back. There was some doubt if the game would be played after terrible overnight conditions. The ref decided Ullathorne was playable but with manager and coach cheering on Europe it was left to Chris Ball to select the team. Haunchwood started on the offensive and were rewarded with an early goal albeit from a fortunate ricochet from an attempted Alex Harbor clearance that smashed against the big striker and flew into the top corner. Lifted by this Haunchwood had 2 or 3 further chances that could have left the lads with a mountain to clinb. Ashley coming to the rescue. As it was the team gradually got a foot hold in the game but some fussy decisions from the ref did not help the flow of the game for either side, the most bizarre of which saw him award a penalty for a foul on George only to change his mind after consulting with the opposition linesman. The pressure was mounting and a goal finally came in the last minute from Shabba who recieving the ball 40 yards from goal lobbed it high over the keeper who could only help it in the net.
Half time Chaps 1 Haunchwood 1
From he kickoff Chaps went 2 - 1 up with alex j being fed and he needed no further opportunity to stroke it acroos the keeper into the bottom corner. This lifted the lads and the rest of the match saw chaps on top. Jack scored a freekick only for it to be disallowed for the wall not being 10 yards back - again a strange decision. The game was wrapped up when Jack was pushed up front for the last 5 minutes and was johnny on the spot to glance home a left wing cross from Shaun. Chaps had further chances to add to the lead but the keeper made a couple of good saves.
Full time Chaps 3 - Haunchwood 1 MoM Ashley. Vital saves.
26/9/10 Chaps 3 Athletic unitlec 1 - Sowe Common KO 11.00am
The lads gained a hard fought victory against Athletic to get some pay back for last years cup final defeat. the game was even in the first half with Athletic taking the lead after a rare mistake from Ah allowing the Athletic striker to continue his scoring run against us.
Half Time 1-0
The lads battled back and with the introduction of Kareem started to get on top. 2 goals in 90 seconds midway through the half changed it with Jack Rooney running half the length of the pitch to finish from 40 yards off the underside of the bar and a penalty from Luke won after Shaun was folued in the box. The second half comeback was completed with a another goal from Shabba who is having a fine season.
The win was well deserved with the lads showing great fighting spirit to turn the game around in the second half.

19/9/10 Chaps 11 - Bedworth Utd 0 - Bishop Ullathorne School KO 11.00am
The Bedworth Nursing cup took over from the league this morning with Chaps playing against spirited blue league opposition. The lads were keen to get on top from the start and kicking up the slope won a corner from the first move of the match. George floated the ball in and after a scramble in the box it fell to Jordan who made no mistake from 6 yards.
The lads were straight back at the opposition from the restart and were two goals for the good soon after after good work from Kareem down the right found George whose sliding finish made it 2 -0.
Kareem was soon replaced due to injury with Sam slotting into right back and Conan pushing forward and the lads continued pressing, playing superb possesion football with Jordan, Shaun and Sean dominating the midfieild. The score increased with Conan scoring his first goal for the club, beating his man down the left and hitting a shot across the keeper only to see it hit the far post and roll back across the line to give him a tap in. George completed the scoring in the first half to make it 4-0 at half time.
Half Time Chaps 4 - Bedworth 0
The second half saw chaps go on the offensive from the whistle. George and Alex completed their hat tricks - Alex getting 5 for the day (including a defender assist) with the best goal seeing chaps burst on the break with Nathan finding George whose back heal found shaun on the half way line and a perfect slide rule pass left to right found Alex out pacing the defence to beat the keeper with some style. Bedworth to their credit never gave up but the pressure was unrelentless and chaps looked like scoring with every attack. The Bedworth keeper had a great game and kept the score down with some good keeping,
The icing on the cake came with Alex's shot hitting the post to find Sean Mchugh to tap the ball home and seal the game and set up a potential meeting with Jag in the next round.

15/9/10 Coundon Court 0 - Chaps 6 - Coundon Court School KO 6.00pm
The team is starting to find its form with tonights opponents unable to cope with the lads tonight. Played at Coundon Court school on a small bobbly pitch Chaps almost conceded from the kick off with a Coundon striker hitting the post to the left of Ash. The lads got over this scare to dominate territory and possesion with the opening goal coming midway through the half after a corner from Shaun was cleared to Jordan whose pass back to Shaun was whipped into the far post where Shabba was ghosting in to tap home. Coundon were competing well and working hard but the lads football was fantastic at times, moving the ball around intelligently to find space. Conan, Luke, Sai and Alex were snuffing out any threat Coundon had with the Coundons team getting more frustrated as the half went on. The second goal came on the stroke of half time with Shaun feeding Alex who finished nicely from a tight angle.
Half time Chaps 2 - Coundon 0
The second half saw Coundon start brightly but Chaps gradually started to get a grip on the game. Kareem was introduced 10 minutes in for George and he showed his potential with a burst through the Coundon defence to slot home.
Chaps were well on top at this stage with Jordan, Sean and Shaun dominating the midfield and Alex, Kareem and Shabba's pace causing panic at the back for Coundon. It was no suprise when Karrem's second and Chaps fourth came soon after - a powerful header from a good piece of wing play from Shabba. Not to be outdone Shabba got back in on the action soon after with his second, with Shaun completing the rout with a 25 yard lob.
With Sam making his debut near the end, and Nathan coming on for Luke all the lads got a decent run out and fully deserved the win.Well done lads.

12/9/10 Chaps 2 - Cov Jag Youth 1 Home Bishop Ullathorne KO 1.35pm
With Injury, holiday and other commitments taking over it was a bare 11 available to take on last seasons league runner up and as expected it was a fiercely competitive game. Chaps kicking off downhill made a slow start reverting to a back 4 with Jag pressing but without really threatening Ash in goal. As the half progressed Chaps started to make inroads and created a couple of chances, the best of which saw Luke shoot from 25 yards and hitting the bar with Shaun knocking the rebound wide, although the flag was up for offside for this chance.
Half time 0 - 0
The second half saw the boys up the pressure and push Jaguar back. The breakthrough came 10 mins in when neat work from Luke found Sai whose clipped ball found Alex whose pace slipped past the Jag defence who had marshalled his threat well up to this point. In the clear he calmly slotted it past the Jag keeper.
A second goal followed soon after with Shabba jinking his way down the right and cut in onto his left foot to power the ball past the stranded keeper.
At this point there looked no way back for Jag who had played some good possession football without making Ashley make a save of note but an unchallenged right wing cross from the Jag midfielder found a good side footed finish from the Jag attacker as the Chaps defence were ball watching.
This drove Jag on but the defence held firm and the game finished without Jag threatening again

8/9/10 Kenilworth Wardens 1 - Chaps 2 - KO 6.30pm away Kenilworth Wardens Cricket Ground
The lads kicked of the season with a tough encounter with Kenilworth Wardens who had held them to a draw at the same stage last season. The lads were determined to get off to a winning start and dominated the early play and were rewarded with a well worked goal with Alex's pace causing problems when cutting in right to left to finish well past the very impressive Wardens keeper. The keeper then made some good stops to keep his team in it and saw Kenilworth grab an equaliser with there first shot on target. A shot taking a wicked deflection of Alex H to leave Ash with no chance.
Half Time 1 - 1
With a pep talk from Sam and Andy the team pressed forward with Conan on up front for George he had two fantastic opportunities to take the lead, one resulting in a point blank save and one prodded just wide. The game continued with Chaps pressing while Kenilworth were competing well getting really stuck in. With minutes left George was thrown back on to grab a goal but it was Kenilworth who almost scored with a breakaway catching the 3 man defence short and a dangerous cross somehow saved by Ash and falling for Sai to clear. From this scare Chaps attacked and the ball fell to George who unleased an unstoppable shot over the keeper and sealed the 3 points
