Rules & Laws
A player is only permitted to play for one age group and one team per day
Any team found to be fielding a player who is or who has signed for a professional team or school of excellence within the last season will be eliminated from the competition.
A referee will be appointed to officiate each game. He shall have the same powers and duties as laid down in the laws of the game. This tournament is affiliated to the BCFA and referee's shall submit cautions and dismissals.
- There is no offside.
- Referee will toss a coin before start of play to decide choice of ends; the start of the game will be a drop ball.
- After a goal has been scored kick off will take place, the ball can be played backwards
- A goal can be scored from any part of the field of play.
- When a player takes a free kick, all opposing players MUST be at least two metres (6 feet) from the ball. All free kicks are direct; any infringement in the penalty area committed by the defending team will result in a penalty kick.
- A penalty will be taken from the penalty spot (6 yards). For ages under 10 and above will be restricted to a one step penalty.
- With the exception of the goalkeeper all players must be outside the penalty areas and on the field of play when taking a penalty.
- Goal kicks shall be taken from the goal line. Under 7, 8 & 9s goal kicks can be taken from the edge of the penalty area.
- Goalkeepers must throw the ball into play, once they have gained control with their hands except under 7, 8 & 9s who are permitted to kick it out. (They cannot drop the ball on the floor and then take a kick, it must always be thrown.) They can come out of the penalty area and can also kick the ball in the penalty area, providing they have not gained control with their hands.
A penalty will be awarded for the following offences:
- Kicking the ball from hand (Except under 7, 8 and 9s)
- Handling a deliberate back-pass, from boot, from a colleague
- Once goalkeepers have thrown the ball into play, they cannot touch the ball again until it has been touched by another player.
- If, in the opinion of the referee, a goal scoring opportunity has been denied, whether inside, or outside the penalty area, through foul means. (Professional foul)
Should a player be cautioned during the tournament, the player shall miss the next scheduled match. Should a player be cautioned twice or, be sent off during the tournament, that player shall take no further part in the tournament.
Any team found playing a banned player shall be disqualified and all results will be null and void
Substitutes may only take place during stoppages and with the permission of the referee and at the half way line. Rolling substitutes are permitted.
The drinking of alcohol is strictly prohibited at pitch side
EARLSDON RUGBY CLUB have kindly allowed us to hold the event at their ground and have asked that we respect their property.
Team Managers will be held responsible for any damage caused by their players or supporters.
